Took this shot on the last day of 2006. I was priviledged to be allowed to sit within 10 meters of this doe without need for a hide. She was quite content and only showed signs of acknowledging me when I got up to leave. A nice end to the year.

A lovely way to end the year Rob. And a lovely image too - wasn't she obliging to sit in the patch of nice light!

The lighting makes it worth spending some extra time on this image to make a great print. I would try getting rid of the twigs on the left side of the frame leaving only the main trunk and also removing the Y-shaped twig behind the animal's head.

As a matter of interest, were you shooting hand-held with the 400, or were you using a tripod? Either way, nice work.

Perfect exposure and just a great shot all round. As mentioned a few bits and pieces could go but its a fine shot as it is.

I'm spending a few days at my folks 15mins from Arne so hoping to get some Sika shots while I'm here, not so sure I'll be blessed with any light!! but hey thats life. It'll be my first time shooting deer so now I'm feeling fully inspired.

Cheers
