I spent the Christmas break with my folks in Phoenix. It was quite a change from the cold winds and snow up here in Estes. While down there I managed to slip away for two days to see a little of Saguaro National Park outside of Tuscon. It was Stacy Eagan's hotspot report that convinced me that this was where I should head. The light only cooperated briefly, but I had a great time and would certainly recommend it. I want to get back and spend some more time on the east side of the Park as there seems to be much to explore. I also visited the Arizona-Sonara Desert Museum which was very nice. You can find a few of my snapshots on my website. For the shot above I actually had to balance myself and one leg of my tripod on a 1" railing for about 15 minutes.

I like this photo very much, especially because of the petroglyph. Very nice light too. Thanks for posting.

A beautiful collection of images Erik. I love the warmth of desert landscape. You even got some great wildlife shots! I can't believe Arizona has cardinals and Colorado really doesn't.
You made good use of your time, very nice stuff! In case you're wondering the bird listed as a Sonoran Bird appears to be a female Northern Cardinal and the bird on the cactus is a mourning dove.
Great photos, Erik! Glad you had a nice visit to Arizona.

You caught some really great light on all your shots of the Signal Hill Petroglyphs, Erik! The dark clouds add some neat drama. I also like your shots from the Desert Museum, especially the agave close-up. I'm glad you had a great visit to Arizona, and flattered that my writeups helped you make a decision to come down to Tucson!
Very nice collection of images for having 'uncooperative' light - and it's great that Stacy's writeup inspired you head there. I've done a high-speed fly-by during a business trip. I had only one night, but the saw some of the most amazing light - definitely a place I want to return to.
The image above is great, with a little of everything that's special about the Park - the mountains, the saguaro, the petroglyphs and some great light. I'd say you captured the essence of the place pretty darn well!

Nice work, Erik! I've only been to Saguaro NP once, and it was before I really got into photography. Your pics along with Stacy's write-up and her pics really makes me want to get back there soon.
