Here is another shot from Rock City. It was suggested that b/w might work for these shots, so I partially desaturated this pic, cropped, and tweaked. Comments/critique welcome. Thanks, Rob.

This is just one opinion, but I think I'd go ahead and produce a completely black and white version of this. It's one of those cases where if color is not helping, get rid of it.

Hi Rob, there are some really interesting subjects at Rock City. I really like the diagonals and curves of this set of boulders, good eye and nice comp. And you've anchored the shot nicely with the foreground boulder.

This shot feels just a tad tight, maybe just a little more room left-to-right. The knarly tree in the B/G doesn't do much for me personally (can't do anything about it's position), but it might give a nice backdrop when leafed out. Thanks for sharing, I'm going to have to make a trip here this year. :wavey:

Here is a completely b/w version. Does it work? I'm not a big fan of b/w pics in general, so it is hard for me to judge what works or how to improve one. Thanks for the advice. Rob

I really like this one better than the color version - personal preference, to be sure, but it's such an abstract image with strong lines that I think it works well this way.

It does seem like that there are large areas of the image that have been clipped to black - and it might be nice if the contrast weren't so great that we could se into some of the dark areas, but otherwise it's a nice image.

Thanks for posting!

Rob, I'll vote for number 2 as well. The total conversion strengthens the strong graphics present in this scene. The additional "room" feels a little better too. Tim is really good on B/W points, so I would take his comments with a great deal of consideration. I really like what you've done here. Good to see your work!
