Bat-eared Fox (Otocyon megalotis) – Masai Mara, Kenya.
Canon EOS 1D2N, 600/f4 + 1.4ex, WH2 + Gitzo 1325.
Manual exposure mode f8, 1/500, iso 800.
RAW image processed in Capture One; sharpened in Photoshop CS2, full frame.
I’ve never managed to get close to Bat-eared Foxes before, so I consider myself fortunate to have been able to spend a couple of hours with a family of two adults and three small cubs while I was in the Mara over Xmas. And although I photographed lions, leopards, cheetahs, rhinos and lots more besides on this trip, this opportunity was the highlight of the trip for me.
Hello Phil
Super image of a species seldom seen on film. The BG could almost have come from an English meadow!
Best wishes
Phil

Looks like all your Christmasses came at once Phil. This is absolutely fantastic. To see these creatures in the wild is special and you have done it justice.
My only nit is that it doesn't say Massai Mara to me, as Phil said it could almost be an english meadow..... but a super looking animal and technically perfect presentation.

Lovely shot Phil, it's always suprising what the rains can do to an area which is perceived by many to be arid.
