Wow, was on a classic 101 road trip with the gf and we stopped at Shore Acres State Park. Seems the focus of this park is some floral gardens but man the wave actiaon was astounding, some of the best I've seen on the coast and it wasn't even that big a storm blowing in.

The waves crash over what looks like a levee made of jagged rock. As the waves push over, they cascade down the back of the levee like rock in hundreds of steps, kind of like a jumbo version of Fairy Falls in the Gorge.

I was only a few feet hopped over the railing when I grabbed this shot so it is very safe and easily accessible. Wish I could have conveyed the scale better but a surfer could certainly have been enclosed in the tube of the wave in the background. The whole formation I was on was shaking with the largest impacts. :jump:

Andy,
This shot somehow slipped by me. It could have be because the title do esn't sound like there's an image. Cool capture of the crashing waves. It looks like B&W was the correct choice . Cool Shot!

It sure is a great scene, Andy, I don't know about the Black and White though. The rock all along the left side all seem to be the same shade of gray. I think there is a lot of great stuff going on in the photo but I think you either need color or better light, or maybe work this one a bit more.

I've seen many images in books of this area. It is surelyon my list of places to visit. Can't wait.

I like your comp and the overall image...but it is also feeling a tad flat...sorta.
