So, I am walking down this trail near Bench Lake in Mt. Rainier NP, early Oct., trying to catch fall color, and here is this very cooperative marmot. He is so cooperative that I am looking for someone with a remote control. Is it an animatronic marmot? I have my 12-24mm lens on for landscape, not expecting wildlife. But it doesn't seem to matter as I am able to approach the marmot as close as 10 feet here. It doesn't budge.

This is what I saw. But is it too busy? Could the crop be different?
Are there too many distractions; the dead tree on the right, the rock above the marmot? Does it look posed?

I love the closeup David. My youngest was sitting on my lap when I scrolled to it, and she immediately sat back in my lap. If only the marmot *could* come out of the monitor

Neat capture, they're usually pretty shy but I've gotten close to a couple of them lately. Wonder why? I don't think I'm a better stalker than before......

Do you guys realize some of the Paradise Marmots of Mount Rainier will come up and expect to eat out of your hand? You practically have to be careful not to step on them.... I suppose the Bench Lake Marmots are a bit more shy, like this one. I prefer the close-up shot.
