Hi all!
I'm opening a new studio soon and I'm looking into printers. I have always used traditional labs for all of my work.
I am thinking about Canon's ipf8000 large format.
I would love to get some buyers comments or good reviews.
Thanks in advance and stay warm!

Kathy,
I am using the Canon ipf5000 17" printer. I believe it uses the same inks and delivery system as the 8000.
I am really impressed with the quality. Very fine detail and a nice, wide gamut, especially in the darker colors/shadows. But I'm relatively new to the large format printing scene.
If you're in the area, a few of us are conducting a print comparison between a few printers, Canon, Epson, and HP, and showing the prints at the upcoming shindig.
The 5000 is not without it's quirks. The documentation is lacking but I didn't find that to be too big of a deal due to the great third party information from other users on the Luminous Landscape printer forum [http://www.luminous-landscape.com/forum/ ], plus I'm a computer geek. There are some ipf8000 owners there also. Another good source of info on the 5000, that might also be applicable to the 8000 is http://canonipf5000.wikispaces.com/
Additionally, Luminous Landscape has a couple of reviews of the ipf5000 as well as the new HP Z3100 which sounds like an interesting alternative for studio work.
I'd be happy to tell you more, answer any questions or offer a demo if you're in the Colorado Springs area. Just email me.
