As i will be visiting scotland in a few weeks i was hoping someone could give me some tips regarding good sites for wildlife around the kingussie and cairngorms area. I will be staying in a highland lodge where pine martins are said to be fairly easy to shoot in the summer months (mike lanes book) and various articles ive read. But i dont know if they would show in winter or not.
I have planned to visit the highland park ,the cairngorms(snow buntings etc )and also a couple of other sites that ive read about.
I was also hoping to shoot a few landscapes at ranoch and glencoe, but my main is the wildlife. I would be gratefull for any help regarding this. Thanks in advance.

Hi Matt,

I Can't help you with any specific locations as my area is further south in England...however, if you stick this request up on the UK/European region forum then I'm sure you'll get a few answers from folks on there.

Hi Matt - it would be a bit of a long jaunt for you from Kingussie but I have a lease on 3500 acres of forestry commission land between Moffatt and Selkirk.
It's public access ground but I lease the sporting rights.
There's 11 pairs of European Goshawks (not those 'poxy' little things you have) Peregrine,Roe and Sika deer, Red Squirrels,Long-eared owls, Crossbills and more Goldcrests than you could imagine.

If you are planning on a visit to Edinburgh on your trip let me know as it's not too far from there.

Regards
Andy

Thanks very much for the invite andy. Its a very tempting offer to say the least. But im afraid i was only planning to keep driving to a minimum as im only up for a week and my wife will be with me also. I will propably loose at least one day being dragged around the shops at fort william . So i was hoping to see as much as i can locally. I do get up in the highlands though quite a bit in the summer months so i will keep you kind offer in mind.
Regards Matt.
