Well, after feeling pretty beaten by the cold weather for any fence building (and blueprint adjustments ), I saw our winter hummer again. This time the male. So I played hookey from my own work and shot off as many as I could to get him in clear focus.
I tried a number of angles, but this was the best light-wise. I wish his red throat was bright, though. A few of the shots had him with his tongue out, and I thought of the Christmas Story (frozen tongue thing ).
The feeder's been frozen these last few days, and it hasn't phased him a bit. My guess is he's still getting some nectar down below, not only since he's been hanging around but some of my shots showed beads of nectar on his beak, too. FYI, the feeder thawed later.
(Posted to show that I really do still take pictures)
Canon 5D ISO 400 1/500 tripod 70-200 mm @ 200 mm & f/4 full-frame. Distance to subject: *2 feet* and he didn't mind too much

Excellent shot Kevin......I would personally clone out the dark upper right corner and make it all nice and blue up there....other then that, this is perfect!!!!
