The NCAR (National Center For Atmospheric Research) road is actually Table Mesa going west. It is always plowed. There is signage saying "no stopping, no parking", and a guard driving around to make sure. So, you're supposed to park at the bottom or top and walk. I would suggest the top, because the best imagery (IMO) is closer to the top. In this case, it was very cold and I figured I could park and do some shooting early on a Saturday before Barney Fife came along. This can also be a great place for large mule deer and sometimes elk, when snow is deep in the mountains.

Nice shots Dave! I really like #2, and had always wondered where people were getting that perspective on the flatirons from.

Sweet images, Dave. I especially like #2. I've never driven that road even though I'm on Table Mesa just about every day. I'll have to check it out. With my red hair, maybe I can pass for Ope and get Barney to leave me alone.
