Fresh Little Owl Pellet
One from the archives, not sure if I have posted this before so here goes.

This was taken at a Little Owl site, which I was monitoring during 2005, whilst observing these delightful Owls I was unaware that this was going to happen. A few shots were taken for which this was the best shot due to the low settings being used at the time.

This pellet is made up of condensed beetle wings, wrapped in mud from the centre of earthworths, these two items play an important part of the Little Owls diet & are non digestible to help form the pellet.

D2X - 600mm AF-S F4
ISO 200, F4, 1/60th sec
Using the vehicle as a hide

Thanks for looking

Hmmm, lovely! Must make a mental note never to buy Spaghetti & Meatballs again - I'd always wondered what the 'meatballs' where made of  :jump:

What with Helge's cormorant and fish suppers and your owl and pellet lunches this forum will soon rival the Roadkill Chef programme that's scheduled for telly later this week!!

I must remember not to swallow earthworms and beetles or I might cough one of these up in company  .

Great capture of an interesting behavior.

Just watching the Roadkill Chef programme and plan to go out looking for a squirrel on the A4174 first thing tomorrow morning!

Great shot Vince and good for education.
