This image hasn't been posted for critique, just for ID.

I came home from work this evening and noticed something on the first-floor windowsil of the vacant house opposite mine. I took a closer look and realised it was a bird. Is it a red-legged partridge? And what on earth is it doing up there???

It's a bit bigger than the size of a fat pigeon.

Hi Michael,

Yes it is a RLP. A very nice bird too!

Yep, a rlp

It's a bit bigger than the size of a fat pigeon.

And a lot tastier too.

What's it doing there?
Getting ready for a sleep in a dry place. Not often a rlp will wake up with wet feathers on its back.

Thanks for the confirmation folks! It was still there this morning when I left for work. If it's still there on Saturday, I may just get the Sunday Dinner sorted!

Is it poaching to take a partridge from the windowsil of a vacant house in a residential street?
