Is there anyone out there using this printer? I know it's new but if I have to clean the nozzles one more time on my Epson 4000 piece of JUNK I'm going to throw it out the window....no, wait, then I'll have to pay for the window. I'm looking to change over. This was recommended in a class I took in June by George Lepp, who is now using one, and Michael Reichmann at The Luminous Landscape gave it high grades. Any opinions? Thank you in advance for your time.

Hi Renae
I just installed mine a couple of days ago and like the quality a lot. There are quite a few quirks with the software which I'm trying to get used to.
On the Luminous Landscape forum there's a lot of discussion about this printer and there's also a Wiki http://canonipf5000.wikispaces.com/ where a lot of the questions about this printer are answered.
Michael Reichman claims to have printed over 700 or 1000 images (I can't remember exactly) with no head clogs. The other big plus is that the inks don't need changing for switching between color and B&W or glossy to matt. I used to use an Epson but got tired of head clogs too. Ink usage seems to be excellent too from what I've read.
I got mine from Color HQ. They have a $550 rebate, $100 for the roll feed and free shipping deal on right now. Their customer service is excellent - they've called me 3 times now to make sure all is well and to help me work through a problem I was having. Their tech told me a couple of days ago that they are now the number 1 seller of this printer in the US. He said that gave them extra leverage with Canon if their customers had any difficulties getting fast service. I have to call this morning so will let you know.
The printer is very big - it's about 39" wide, about 16 thick and if everything is extended (the paper receiving trays when printing) about 39" deep too. It also weighs 90 pounds so does take a little doing to install.
Anyway, so far I like it a lot although I did get frustrated with the software when I started. The print quality is excellent.
Thank you, Ed. I called Epson again this morning and they are suggesting I have a service call to clean my machine. Good money after bad. Canon, here I come.
Sincerely, Renae

Hi Renae,
I'm just doing some more tests with the printer now and am still really impressed with the sharpness and detail in the prints. The software and documentation are not up to par though although things are improving with each iteration.
