I really like it - but on my monitor, at least, there's something about the green tone in the trees that looks un-natural...

Darren,

I am a sharpness guy but believe me , you will get different views from everybody...However congrads on the great DOF and superb comp. I lie in Ohio and will be relocating to the Portland area in 07. I look forward to these scenes that i can shoot in the PNW. ( we are getting 1 foot of lake effect tonight--I WILL NOT MISS IT!).

If there is a way to sharpen the foreground, to me that would make this a real winner. But others will not have a problem---just a personal preference.

Darren,

May I suggest you not use the tape in the corners. It is very distracting.

If in fact this is a color image then you need to bring out the green of the trees that was surely in the scene.

I am prone to always have as sharp of an image as is possible so if you have a sharper image then by all means show it!

Thanks,

I prefer your other post of this scene, Darren. Having said that, I cannot explain for myself or you why this effect seems to work wonders on some scenes or subjects but not so well on others. What I would personally favor is to see relatively more of the stream and less of all the trees. Just another way of looking at it and not to say your image isn't just fine.

I would not have noticed any focus issue if you had not mentioned it. But I really love this image with its wonderful feeling of depth and interesting details. The greens seem entirely natural for our local evergreens in the winter. Lose the tape though.

I think it's pretty moody and creative with the soft focus and lack of punchy color. I think you hit the mark with your vision...it makes me feel like I'm in a Dream. Good job!

It works

The photo is way too nice for the tape effect border, Darren,

I'm fine with the soft focus, in fact, I've been playing with a technique that makes "dreamy" looking photo. My only problem with it is if I'm getting too close to "photo art" which I really consider neither.

Ha! OMG! Get rid of the tape border! That looks ridiculous! Anyway...back to the photo...if I can just get past the tape....I like it. Softening works well. Nice lead in with the stream.

Tape aside...this is really nice Darren.

Thanks for the comments they are much appreciated...I will toss the tape and just leave the black border...I am just looking at different ways to present my images besides the plain image itself...

here is the image without the tape....

Thanks again!

Darren,
Much, much better!

I like the repost. A photo should speak for itself. No tape necessary.
