Incoming White-tailed Eagle
I spend a day in a hide in Southern Sweden last week (just 1 hour from Copenhagen), trying to get some shots of WT Eagles. I was lucky and 3 young eagles spend the morning there. Due to the meadow being floated it gave some funny shots of the eagles walking and interacting in the water.

Of more than 900 images from the day, this is one of my favourites. It's almost full frame, just cropped 5% away for a little rotation.

20D + 500/4, iso200; 1/400, f7.1, exp.comp -1/3.

Hi Helge

An excellent action shot, great timing too. :toast:

Only nit for me is I would prefer a bit more eye contact, at least to see the eyes a bit more clearly. Also maybe the bird would be better positioned more to the left hand side of the frame.

If you have 900 images from your day I hope we see a few more of your shots on the forum. It sounds like you had a great few days.

cheers

Half agree with Sean here.
Eye contact would be great (indeed probably essential) but if this were to be used in a double page spread it wouldn't need any flipping, as the text could easilly be on the left page with the image on the right.

It's just the kind of shot that I love, big in the frame with loads of impact :toast: :toast: :toast:

Very nice shot Helge, I like the composition and sense of movement.

you can feel the power of those birds, just looks as though it'll snap that branch in two in the next shot! Fantastic.

It is different. No eye contact, clipped wings.... love it! A refreshing break from the rules!

oh, and a crackin' action shot captured superbly!

Awesome!

This really captures a moment of motion perfectly with the birds talons having just rippled the water surface before its touch down. I personally think the eyes looking away are not a problem (if the bird was looking at the photographer it would probably miss its perch  )

Great picture - where can I see these in Oxfordshire?!
