This was my very first attempt at using a GND taken this fall.

I would darken the bottom to match the top. A bit too strong on the GND. 1-stop usually does it for reflections. Maybe 1.5 stops at the most. I have a custom 1.5 from Singh-Ray that I've started using lately.
Been shooting less than a year, I really appreciate the advice. Pradeep, please forgive if this is a stupid question, I dont know how I could make the reflection darker and get the trees lighter/greener?
Hi, Douglas,
That's a nice image for a first effort with GND. Just generally, you want to hold a little of the light back at the top so it doesn't get darker than the reflection. You didn't say what stop GND you used, but it was a bit too much. Try the 1 stop first, check the image and adjust from there.
You can fix this in an image editing program by using a selective curve. It's some work to rebalance the color and deal with the trees, but if you think it's worth it, go for it.
We'll look forward to more very good firsts from you now that you've set yourself a pretty high standard.
