Another round from last weekend. I see that Paul nor Jamie have posted anyyythinggg here. I'm posting 2 that I "like" as an example of how I am a serial shooter More often than not I need to repeat locations to get keepers so I use shots like these to disect what I like and what to change the next time. I'm not telling yet what I would alter-just see what you think first.
I'll post the 2nd one after 24 hrs:-)

I like the very "winter" colours in this shot Leann, and the ridges are so clear!. I think the composition works, but I am wanting to be a little higher up looking a little more down on that tree and the valley - the slightly brighter top half of the sky may of been out of the shot then!.
I'm still bummed I missed the outing, especially seeing the 2 images you captured!.
This is nice Leann but I prefer the first by far. There's a little too much foreground here. I know you wanted to get the tree in the comp but I think it would have been better to have moved to the left to get more mountains in.
I like it...but prefer the first version. It might be this laptop monitor, but it also appears a little dark.

Thanks for the feedback. It is too dark -required too much PSE work to get to this. Also I don't like the tree reaching beyond the last band of cloud.
Here is another with the same tree/sky placement issue in warmer colors. This exposure lost some of the sky color-a GND may have helped. These are all points I would employ in a similar situation the next time.

I'm more into the first one because of hte blues. Never been a fan of the warming filter look and hence don't use one myself. the first one looks like a lonely tree that needs company in the bitter cold. the warmer version looks like a tree standing on a mountain side. both are nice pictures, but the difference for me is that the first is effective in portraying something if that makes any sense.

Hey Richard,
Funny thing is I wasn't using any filters! The first is just as dawn was breaking and the 2nd was after the sun was pouring out across.

oops, maybe I misread your message w/ the 2nd post. I thought saw something that you processed the image differently. must be the cleaning solvent fumes that my maids were using today on the floor.
