My usual Photoshop magic ( )
The print shows the area at the base of the trees as crazy sharp. The tops of the trees fade out a bit so you're left with a "What..?" kind of feeling. (I hope).

This is great, Mark. I love the effect. Works for me compositionally as well.

Thanks, Marc, I was getting lonely here, 33 looks and no comments, I wasn't feeling the love!
It's not a Mark Hudon Signature photo but I think it's pretty nice.

I haven't been able to comment until today, as my regular computer was in the shop. I'll be making the rounds this afternoon.

Mark,
I just wanted to take a couple more looks before I gave you some love. I like how the fence fades off to the left. The image gives the feeling of a painting. I'd have to give it a thumbs up.
I usually love your work in the warm colors, with grasses and bare trees, but this doesn't move me. I'd experiment with cropping across the bottom and possibly some at the right. IMHO the shadowed stump should either go entirely, or anchor the LRC; that dark area feels too emphatic for the misty feel of the rest of the image. If you crop bottom and LRC you bring the BG trees forward a lot and emphasize a kind of enigmatic feel, with the clumps of trees leading away in the distance.
Or I suppose you could tweak saturations and color casts and emphasize differences in shading through the grass area......my guess is I'd play with that but not print it.....

interesting critique, Eric, thanks.
I don't think I could crop out the dark stump, that would throw the balance way off. I see your point about putting in the LRC though.
