Not Sure
This is an image I managed to get this weekend in my back garden on a feeder I am trying to build. I quite like it but I'm not sure if the pose quite works. What do other people think? I realise the green bar in the bottom right hand corner is a distraction. Your comments on this are appreciated. The technical details are:

- Camera: Canon EOS 1D Mk IIN
- Lens: Canon 500mm f4 IS + 1.4x
- Aperture: f6.3 -2/3
- Shutter Speed: 1/200s
- ISO: 400
- Metering: Evaluative
- Exposure Control: Aperture Priority
- Camera Support: Gitzo 1325 + Wimberley Gimbal
- RAW Conversion: RawShooter Premium
- Post Processing: Levels, Curves, Saturation, Contrast, USM (FocalBlade)

Many thanks for looking

Hi Adrian

I think the pose works, but the composition is a bit lacking. Nice and sharp, good eye contact, but I would prefer all the bird in the frame and a nicer perch. I am not usually keen on very dark backgrounds but it kinda works here, although might be worth trying for a lighter background if you can position camera and perch suitably in your back garden.

Otherwise a nice image, but something I think you can improve on given a bit more time.

cheers

You need to repositionor rotate the perch through 60-70 degrees to get a better aspect on the birds that are going to land there.

Sean, Phil,

Thanks for your comments. I will try rotating the branch to give a better effect. Unfortunately due to the fact my garden is North facing and full of dark evergreens (planted by a previous occupant) I only either have dark backgrounds or horrible busy ones - Oh well looks like some gardening will be the order of the day when the weather starts to improve :frown:

Once again thanks

Adrian
