What's up with Canon?

Anyone who knows at least a little more than I do, please help me substatiate these mysterious rumors I keep hearing about the fantastical 1Ds3 and 5Dmk2. I'll keep saving and hoping......I figured that something might have been announced by now since I've been hearing the same rumors since last summer!

The official info should be out around the first week of March. Till then it is all rumor

Those rumors are somebody's wishful thinking, I think, Mark. Canon plays it awfully close to the vest. It's time for a camera upgrade for me so as PMA approaches I've been trying to find out what Canon has up their sleeve. So far, not much in the way of hints. The Canon rebate program ends on about february 19, I think. Fat chance of any hard news before then.

Bob Atkins has some reasoned speculation on the Canon News page of his website.

I read Marc's post earlier today and then came across this link (http://theonlinephotographer.blogspot.com/2007/01/latest-from-rumor-mill.html) on Dave Hobby's strobist site (strobist.blogspot.com) . This should get you Canon shooters salivating. I have absolutely no knowledge as to what's rumour and what's fact. Truth is some pros on this site probably do know but they are legally bound not to say a word. That means that anybody saying anything is either guessing or breaking their word.

Some time ago a page about the 40D briefly appeared on Canon HK website - there was nothing but the name, but at least we know that it is real (I saw the page) and it is going to be called 40D ;-)

Other than that, it is very very likely that the new 1 is coming.

I have not heard any realiable source about a replacement of the 5D, just rumors..
