Land Memories
Sunset's crimson glow evokes memories of a 1996 fire that consumed over 10,000 acres of forest off the shore of this high altitude Central Cascades lake. Taken in August.

Nice. I like the blue shadows and pink glow beyond. Very complimentary colors. Nice depth too. I might darken the foremost rocks slightly.

I like the composition a lot, but it almost looks like its leaning a little too heavily to the cyan side of the spectrum.

I feel too much blue overall as well. It's an awesome shot so it's worth seeing if this improves the shot.

Mike,
Aside from the comments of this having a blue color cast, I really like this. Maybe a little off the bottom but not too much? Nice work none the less!

I envisioned this as a moody, blue-cast shot, but I think there is still enough blue in this version. This summer I started experimenting, taking a lot of shots with daylight WB (I usually start with cloudy as a starting point). So there was even more blue to begin with!

I took both suggestions, though and this is the result with darkened foreground stones. And I pulled down the blue curve slightly. There is now some tonal separation between the water and the rocks. I do think it's an improvement. I'll have to do this to the print version and see how it comes out.

Thanks!
