Last weekend was the annual Eagles Et Cetera Festival at DeGray Lake in Arkansas, it's just south of Hot Springs on scenic highway 7. The highlight was releasing a rehabilitated eagle. I posted a "Recent Adventures" article on my site about the weekend if you would like to read more.
I grew up in this area and have been photographing eagles here over the last few years. It might just be another stop you want to make on your eagle adventures.

Here's a pair of eagles Gina and I photographed in Jan '05. Highs were in the mid-20's and we spent about 3 hours on a barge riding around the lake bundled up in our snow suits. The sky wasn't so blue last weekend.

Nice comp Marty, the tree and position of the eagles flows well. The light is a little harsh but you take what you can get sometimes. These look to be a couple of males (smaller in stature) but it's hard to tell for sure.
Just two weekends ago I took my youngest daughter (she's 20) and went to an Eagles Day event at a local park. They put on a nice event and had several presenters that were very informative.
For example, Clinton, Perry & Hillsdale lakes in Kansas have seen a consistent rise in nesting eagles since 1989 and the breeding pairs of eagles returning to those spots have fledged almost 300 eaglets since their return.
I'll never forget the first time I saw an eagle in the wild, it was hunting on the Missouri river and it was breath-taking!
I've lived in AR for almost 19 years now but had never heard of the Eagles Et Cetera event at De Gray. I've now added it to my list of "things to do and places to go". Thanks for the info!
Love your work.

Well done, Marty - I really like your composition. These are such beautiful birds to watch. I sat for about a half hour today watching a couple of adults waiting for supper at the end of a poultry house. Their plummage is just gorgeous! Now that the roads have cleared up a bit, I may head over to Spavinaw Creek in the morning to see what I can find. If I can get anything close to half this nice, I'll be pleased...Thanks for posting!
