Digging thru the archives and came across this one again. I always come back to it, but i can never decide if i like it or not. So, i thought i would see if it catches anybody's attention here. I was chasing the light this evening and just barely grabbed this before everything went dark.

I like it. Beautiful, saturated colors and a foreboding feel to the overhead clouds. Have you printed it?

I think I'd be on the fence on this one as well. The sunset is nice but the partial silhoutte of the trees is a little distracting to me. I'd either like to see more of a full silhoutte or none. If you didn't have so many better sunset shots on your web site, it might be a keeper. But since you have better shots, I'd pass it by.

I think the reds and yellows are way oversaturated, but with that corrected, I'd be on the loving-it side of the fence.

Chris,
As Grant mentioned, I find the partial silhouette distracting and as Todd stated, the reds and yellows are way oversaturated. The clouds are fantastic as are the red highlights on the bottoms of them. I was on the fence until I saw your website. This image is not up to the quality of your other work which, by the way, is just wonderful. I have to agree with Grant in that you should let this one go.

I LOVE the sky, though I agree with backing off the saturation. If just a little more of that middle tree silhouette were visible, it would feel more balanced. I'd hang on to it just for the sky; the tree is a minor nit.

The sky is awesome, only minor tweaking needed to the saturation. The silhouette kills it, if you had a higher vantage point so more of the mtns showed it might work, but too black as it is.
Not my favorite. Sky is nice. But only element that provides any anchor in the shot is the part of the tree. And I feel like I want to see more of the tree. There isn't much relief on the horizon which I think is where the image is lacking.

Thanks for the responses on this everyone, you were able to point out what i couldn't put my finger on. I think this one could definitely benefit from a professional scan, but judging by the responses and my own instinct, it might go on the back burner. Or i just need to get up and shoot that scene again!
