I wasn't able to shoot the two amazing sunrises we've had the last two days, but did get out this morning...only to have a less than average show. Got some decent light late in the sunrise, but clouds on the eastern horizon dampened the early light. Don't think this one belongs in with some of my others from here, but after nearly getting blown off of Indiana, having my camera/tripod blown over and sitting around 40 minutes waiting for *any* light, I wanted to post something.
I ran into René who had been heading out that way for sunrise, only to have the crazy wind and crummy road conditions keep him from making it for sunrise. You didn't miss much, René

Very cool, windy, layered, warmly-lit, story-telling image. What's more challenging then photographing the wind well? Congrats for venturing out.

The snow looks like a cloud with the wind. Which way is up? I like the clouds over the mountains too. Very nice!

Rick, I think it conveys the mood of the morning very nicely. Derek and I headed up to RMNP 3:30ish this morning hoping to shoot the moon set at sunrise from Moraine Park. It was so windy with the snow blowing it felt like little daggers on my face and the snow obliterated the moon so we declared a no go. It was pretty much that way all morning.

That is a great shot Rick! I wish I could have arrived a bit earlier, although I am not sure that I would have been able to set up the 4x5.
The wind was so strong that it pushed my car from the road onto the shoulder, and rotated it about 45 degrees. This was while I was at a standstill on 93 the middle of a whiteout. They did end up closing 93 after all, and I gladly took an alternate route home!
Is the camera OK ?

Thanks for the comments everyone!
René - the camera did survive. I got lucky - it landed in a couple inches of snow that managed to not get scoured off the earth, and that probably saved it; otherwise it was just frozen ground. I think you would have had to have shot 4x5 from inside your Jeep; extended bellows would have been a very bad thing. Apparently, there's no guarantee that even in your Jeep you wouldn't have been spun around again. Crazy!

Very nice Rick!! Love the sunlite on the grass in the foreground. Actually sunlite, or sponge tool?
Thanks again for the help sizing pics!

Nice shot Rick, especially under the circumstances!!
I made the attempt of getting out there after the 2nd or 3rd (?) big storm in December. I never got out of the car - had to head home and change pants after encountering a whiteout on HWY 93.
