Since you'll all will be saying "I told you so!", keep it down to a dull roar. I'm coming out of the closet to say "I have never calibrated my monitor." Ouch, I here the gasps as each of you have read this far. Since you all coerced me into the DSLR world years ago, I've been limited in purchasing photography equipment/software/tools due to the household CFO (Annie, my wife) having prioritized diapers and other family necessesities (rightfully so!). I think the lack of calibration is really catching up to me now "in spades".

So now the real motive behind this posting ... What calibration system do you all recommend? Oh, there's an open question. It's like asking which camera to buy (Canon vs. Nikon vs. Leica vs. Olympus vs. Pentax vs. Hasselblad vs. ALL). Regardless, I would like your honest opinions. I'm considering the "ColorVision Spyder2 Suite" because I believe it will meet my needs and the CFO says it would fit into the current budget. Is it any good? Should I consider others? Your input/experience would be appreciated

Greytag macbeth i1 is what I use. I had the spyder 2 pro but it could never get an older monitor that was way off calibrated very well for me. The i1 managed to get that monitor very close to my new monitor.

I just upgraded from the original Color Vision to the new version 2 suite and for the first time both of my monitors are identical and my prints are pretty close to what is on the screen. Greytag i s nice but at twice the price, I couldn't rationalize it.

Monaco Optix XR for me. No complaints.

Sean and I got the Eye One a couple of weeks ago because we were not very happy with the Spyder Pro 2. I like how the Eye One calibrates a lot better.

Monaco Optix XR here. I can't directly compare it to another calibration system because it's the only one I've owned, but it was very easy and fast to use for a first time user.
