Snowdrops
1DII, 180/3.5 Macro, 1/1000@f/3.5
Cable release, reflector.

Spring must be here..the sun is shining and the snowdrops are out  - finally a chance to get out and do a bit of photography .

I like this a lot - different, somehow a little unreal - can't figure out the background - but who really cares! Brave to submit something with obviously blown whites, but I honestly don't care for blown whites - it looks realistic. The black band across the bottom makes this special.

I'll now be looking for a similar pic myself.

When the Snowdrops get posted here we know that the good weather is on its way.

Hi Nick,
Super shot , love the lighting , makes me wish I hadn't sold my 180 macro.

Kind regards
Andy...

Nice, interesting and appealing, whites don't look blown here and if they are bordering it is probably down to the compression..

Are you telling us that you are a fine weather photographer Nick

Thanks for the comments folks.

David - no funny business with the shot, just using a reflector instead of photoshop. The whites aren't blown, just there isn't much detail in the petals to be shown other than a few faint lines and speckly bits which appear when viewed at 100%. Glad I've inspired you to get out and about

Phil - not so much a fine weather 'tog as hibernating over winter

Nice pic - I shall get out and look for some of my own - I really like the approach to the lighting of the subject that you have used - it works well

Hi Nick,
This is very nice indeed and an inspiration to go out and find some good snowdrop spots, before they've all gone.

Very nice.
I like the composition with the dark band across the bottom and the empty space on the right.

Hey Nick,

Having just spent a day at Kew doing diffused green and white snowdrops, this image gives me a real slap in the face. Its a lovely way of capturing this symbolic little flower. Thanks for insp. :toast:
BTW, if anyone is interested in spring bulb en masse carpets, RHS Kew is well in bloom. They have snowdrop, crocus and daffodil swathes.
