Hi to all,
This is my first Dipper shot and even though it's not the best I'm as pleased as punch with it because it's the first Dipper I've ever seen up close and an experience I'll remember for a long time to come , taken at Bolton Abbey this morning in very poor light.
Crop for comp , levels and usm in CS2
Canon 20D , 500mm F4 L IS , 1.4t/c , W/Hv2 , Gitzo 1325
1/100th @ F5.6 ISO 400
All comments and advice most welcome
Kind regards
Andy...

Very nice Andrew, I guess you were up against with that bad light but you have done a good job IMO, very good detail in the dark areas, the white is a little blown but you can't have everything I guess? You can add that one to your collection if outstanding shots.
Cheers
Nick

Did you enjoy Bolton Abbey? I think its a great spot, especially during the week when its a bit quieter.
I like your shot, might take a bit off the top, good atmosphere though and pose.
The main nit i.e. the clipped white mentioned but this is a nice image, I like the sense of movement in the water that you have captured, I too would take a bit from the top...

very nice image Andy. The whites are a liitle hot but that doesn't detract from a very nicely composed image which gives a real sense of environment.

Hi to all,
Thanks for the comments and advice , hi Tim I really enjoyed it and you were right about the poor light , can't wait for summer to arrive , with good light and faster shutter speeds I should be able to improve on my Dipper shots.

Don't wait for the summer if the river is tree lined... I would suggest that early morning Mid March is the best time.
