Tufted Duck - LVNP
Spent a few hours at Lee Valley Nature Park yesterday, I took lots of pics of Swans, Canada Geese, Morehen's, Coot's, Robin's and one Tufted Duck.

nice... i always have an issue of too high contrast when shooting these buggers. Incidentally, i never saw you when i was there. Just goes to show how big the place is. It does sound like you had a better time than me though. I did a total of 25 frames, half of which was of one grebe. Maybe its time to go back to film.

I'd nit about the shooting angle but u mentioned before that you move about on a chair so i guess that can't really be helped can it? :toast:

Hi Nick,
Good light, sharpness and colour, I like the diagonal composition as well. I see you had sunshine, I've got a 1.7x now from Aperture in London, so well set up.

szekiat, this little fellow took a bit of post processing, luckily I shot with - 0.67EV I think the right side would blown out if I hadn't? I think I may have seen you on my way out when you were going in? I was a little disappointed as well re the shooting opportunities at Lee Valley, I guess we went on a bad day. The Bittern hide was crowded out so I didnt stay there long, its a bit of a job to know where to shoot from? Yes it can be a bit nightmare getting the right shooting angles from a chair, I have to take what I can get I am afraid.

Cheers

Hi Tim, The light was excellent, its a pity there was not more interesting wildlife to shoot at Lee Valley mind you its a vast place so I guess the chaps that go on a regular basis will know where all the good stuff is?

I think we were spoilt on our last outing, spoilt for choice really!

Look forward seeing you pics from your weekend away with the misses.

Cheers

Were you leaving round about noon time? Unfortunately i got distracted by the blue tits at the canal bridge and spent over an hour there. I saw a chap with his buddy going for their car but he had a shorter lens. I was expecting a 300mm 2.8 so i dismissed it as someone else. Next time i visit i'm bringing chest waders and getting into the water!

Yep that was me, you looked a bit busy so i didn't want to disturb you, my mate had my 500mm f/4 over his shoulder,

Nicely detailed and well controlled exposure, shame the duck is moving away from you (which is normal for me at least), I see from your dialogue with Szekiat that not a lot could be done about the shooting angle, but that is made up for the nice colour in the water...

Hi Nick,

Nice image - we must have missed each other on Saturday, I waited in the car park from about 1030 but maybe you had already arrived.

regards Chris.

Chris,

My 1st pic was taken at 10:39am so I probably entered the Car Park at 10:30, maybe you did not realise it was me. I get about in a wheelchair :frown: , I was with an old geezer who was carrying my 500mm. I will try and go again soon, perhaps you can give me a few pointers where the best locations are.

Cheers

Nick
