Rising Fog (See Repost)
Henderson Inlet, Puget Sound, near Olympia

this has a very interesting effect to it.....however, I would personally crop out the bright part in the sky or clone in more clouds.
This would make a great square image

Wow, great capture of light. Your processing made pleasing warm colors everywhere but in the cloudless parts of the sky (I think the blue is just a bit too "thick" looking.) I sense a little bit of haloing as well around the trees, or maybe it's just part of the image. Anyway, these are little things that can be massaged. I like the muliple layers that fade into the fog and the way the light streams through the mist to strike the riverbank.

Got to give it up to you David you always find spectular places to shoot near here which I often have trouble finding. Another gorgeous image !

Its a very nice scene but I feel its way over processed. It doesn't look natural to me.

Thanks to everyone for their constructive criticism. One thing I am learning about this forum is that no one is afraid to be honest, unlike other places on the web where all you get is a pat on the back. This is a true learning experience here and there is regular participation from a great group of photographers. I am really honored to be part of this group.

I have to agree with Eric on this one, it looks overprocessed to me to. However, I do like the composition and crop you selected. Just and idea, try a B&W conversion???

I love this image.....processing and thick blues and halos and all. I wouldn't change a thing. Sorry David....all you get here is a pat on the back. Frame it large with a white border.

Not of fan of the halos but I understand why they are there !! Overall the scene seems lacking in contrast somehow.... not very natural, but interesting in some unnatural way

I found the original nef file. This was redone from a tiff image and I am sure something got lost with the jpeg compression. I will try to redo and repost... This post seems kind of muddy to me.

Looks way overprocessed to me as well. The area below the sun is too dark, the blues at right are too saturated, there are obvious halos and there are some very strong unexplained color variations in the trees. I'd start over with the color version, and would consider a B&W as well.

David - I think you have a great eye and have come accross some really nice scenes, but your processing techniques are lacking. I'd suggest enrolling in some classes, online perhaps, that could aid you in this development.

This one is much better IMHO. I'm missing that "wide" look of the first one though.
