I will be in Jacksonville and Gainesville mid-February. I'm interested in photographing in St. Augustine and the coast from there north to Amelia Island. Do you have suggestions for photo ops in places that aren't too commercial?

There are alot of unspoiled natural areas between St Aug & Fernandina. Heading North from St Augustine, take A1A to Guana State Park (10,000 acres between the beach & Intercoastal - a coastal hammock of live oak, pine, etc. with some fresh-water marsh areas).

Continueing North, the Theodore Roosevelt Area of Timuacan Preserve, located along Southern shore of St Johns River, has some good views of marsh (eg, Round Marsh) with plenty of waterfowl.

Crossing over the St Johns, you enter the heart of the Timuacan Preserve. Some of the recommended destinations include Cedar Point, Pumpkin Hill, Ft George Island (includes Kingsley Plantation), Little Talbot Island & Big Talbot Island. Big Talbot is a frequented photography spot because of its dynamic coastline.
