I've never had one of these crap out on me before upgrading my machine... So is there anyone that has been through this and can confirm what I'm seeing is the death of my DVD Burner.
These and many other images (but not all) that were burned onto a DVD have these strange lines through them, but when I open the original file on the HD - the originals are fine and show no corruption.
First, if possible, go to another computer with a DVD drive and open the images from that drive. If the lines show up, either your media is bad, your drive's write head is dirty, or the drive itself is going under.
You might also burn the images to a new disc and see if the lines show up..
My understanding is that if there is any problem writing to, or reading from a DVD, the problem will almost always show up as a Windows (I think Mac too) read error. Thus, it is quite difficult to read corrrupt files from DVD using a file copy. More commonly, a file that is corrupted by DVD write or read just cannot be successfully read.
I am surprised if a DVD write or read error causes this problem without windows (or Mac?) refusing to read the file and complaining that the file is corrupt.
Are you sure that there is not another explanation that stems from software used to write the files?
