almost underwater....

hi all,

long time no post, sorry to not have made it to the conference back in january, hope to be at the next one, was looking forward to meeting you all, but an offer of three weeks work in the galapagos was slightly more pressing at the last minute.

anyway, underwater work there was restricted to video only, so gave me chance to concentrate on land creatures for photography. here's a lucky opportunity with some flamingoes that wandered round the corner when i was shooting the further off ones with a 300 mml, and i quietly changed over to the 30 mm to get these wide angle silhouettes. lucky to get them that close. would be interested to hear your thoughts.

looking forward to being in the uk for most of the next year and maybe i'll get along to some gatherings.

best regards,

mark.

Nice atmospheric shot, perhaps a shame the flamingoes aren't facing into the frame, but not a lot you can do about that.... wonder if pushing up the saturation would bring out more orange tone in the sky and water, or perhaps just warm it up some....

Cracking atmospheric silhouette - maybe a bit more colour in the sky would help but I also like it as it is!

Wow - this is fantastic Mark!

You dont see many wild shots of flamingos taken with such a wide angle lens. They must have been particularly confident individuals. Were you working from a hide?

I have the Galapagos on my list for sites to visit to photograph flamingos so this cements it for me - great shot - well done! :toast:

Hi Mark, I like this a lot. I think its the relaxed pose of the flamingos complementing the tranquil scene that really makes this
