Could you post a link?

The site is http://www.chrishajeephoto.com (you can get to it by clicking the "www" in his post, though having the link spelled out for this purpose would make sense).

I think there is too much space spent on the heading and navigation area. It pushes your main content down too low. In addition, there is a lot of (extra) space around the sub-galleries. The overall result is too much scrolling. I think you could bring a lot of that content up without making the site too crowded

In the galleries, it's not immediately obvious that clicking the words gets you to the pictures. Seeing the layout, I expected to click on the thumbnail to get to a new set of thumbs or all of the images in that category. Instead, I get a white page with that image and no other navigation. The confusion created is compounded by the fact that, on a couple pages, clicking the thumbnail does take you do the gallery page with the image.

There are a number of very good images on the site. In particular, some of the bird shots are strong. I'm not sure if you're looking for critique on those, though, and I'm rambling pretty good at this point...

Well that certainly was a treat for the eyes  , Chris. Being especially partial to landscapes your River IJsel scene and Oostvaardersplassen is incredible. There are some missing links. After clicking "Others" the Mushrooms would not allow me further than the thumbnail. Same with the slow worm shot. I think it would also be good to provide a "return to previous page" link.
