Africa
I have just returned from a killer Photo Safari in Tanzania (gone almost three weeks in total [including some time in Amsterdam to break up the trip]). With more than 5792 shots to review, I will be very busy for a while. Breeze Browser and Downloader Pro have helped and proved to be invaluable in the field; however, there are lots of shots still to evaluate. Even the culls have possibilities with a little work in CS3 or Lightroom.

This was my first time in Africa (also first time having to shoot from the limitations of a vehicle - you get outside of the vehicle and you are lunch meat). I was so impressed, that I am organizing a trip back to the same area in late Jan - early Feb of 2008. If you are interested, let me know. As I was warned, once you get the dirt of Africa on your boots, you will always return. I'll post a few on the Forum but I must concentrate on getting a web page up with something like the best 20-40 shots to support the next trip.

This shot was take in the lower mid Serengeti Plains on a rock outcropping that is referred to as a Kopi.

BTW, What you might think are dust spots near the lions head, are really large flys. I decided to leave them in, as this was just how I saw it. These were OMG big flys.

Looks great here. Glad you had a nice trip. I hope to spend some time in Africa one of these years.... The sand dunes of Namibia are calling me.

Wow,
Sounds like quite the trip. Shots of wild Lions are something you don't see so often on this forum. My wife went to Zimbabwe for almost two months in the summer of 2005. She is going back as soon as things get better over there.

Reminds me of the movie 'Ghost and the Darkness' - nice shot Randy.

John, don't even think twice about going to Namibia. Go! It's a fascinating country. Been there several times, (I grew up in South Africa). Email me if you have any questions. I'd LOVE to share and give you some tips on places to see and things to do. I have a contact in Walvis Bay as well.

Randy, that is a great capture. Looks like you were able to get fairly close to that pride. It's a dream of mine to visit Tanzania. Africa is an amazing place isn't it?
