Out today in the snow that fell across Herefordshire - on my knees in a hide to get a low angle wasn't comfortable - wet cold work. Just to confirm an earlier post about advice on Fieldfare. Took this in an orchard my friend has a feeder station in. Lots of very ripe rotten apples about, plus snow, plus lots of other birds, makes these very wary birds happier to brave a large lens aiming at them. One false move, however, and they're off! Just a record shot, but it proves you can get close if you plan well.

Sorry for the low res but its linked to a website that is running out of space! Thanks for looking. Dave.

They're apples! I thought they added colour and more interest (once you realise they're apples

Only slight curve adjustment, 15% saturation and contrast? The apples in the orchard are are a rotten brown colour!

I've just had another look at the RAW file and re-diid the image from scratch and I need to correct myself - I only applied 9% contrast to get the lovely bright brown apples Bet you saw them through a dense haze of ciggy smoke

Hi David,
Nice image of these handsome looking birds. You can almost guarantee these coming to over ripe apples if you are patient.
