Sandies In San Joaquin
A co-worker and birder who'd been in Modesto on business on Thursday told me he'd seen Sandhill Cranes off Gates Road just outside of town. I looked for it on a map and saw that he'd been near the San Joaquin River National Wildlife Refuge, and that's where I headed on Friday morning. It rained the whole time I was out there, but I still got off a few frames, including this fly-by.

These are certainly spectacular birds! I think this might work better in B&W, John.

John,

Nice capture considering the conditions you described. With the gray sky, I might agree that playing around in b&w might work.

Thanks. I hadn't thought of going b&w. I'll check it out.
