http://www.blueherongraphics.net/

I have been working on my site. The old one is still accessible (blue back ground) I am not happy with the templates of my two new folders (exploring technology & architectural detail) as I have not learned how to adjust them in Dreamweaver. The photo galleries are done in Photoshop CS2.

Am I headed in the right direction? I have visited many sites from NPN network and have tried to simplify my site. In a way it still seems busy in areas. The links at least seem to work.
TIA

I enjoyed your site, Barbara. The floral shots are beautiful. I think your Card Page can be seperate from the About page. The upside down writing on the cards had me turning my head but I understand why it is that way. When the card is folded it would look right.

Hi Barbara,

Since you asked for a critique, here are some thoughts. Overall I think you are in going in the right direction. Here are some suggestions:

Home Page:
Center - by Barbara Dodge Zarrella
Lighten the type color so it is easier to read: Enter My Stie

Galleries:
I would not put any type under the thumbnails. It distracts. Put the Gallery heading in bold, in front of the description.
I would not include a link to your old site. No reason to – it is confusing.

General:
When you click “Enter My Site” the fist page you see says Gallery. While it does include your gallery, it is not what the page really is. I would change that firs page to a general page that would include the following links: Art Photo Gallery, Stock Photo Gallery, About (combine Information, About, and Biography), Questions and Photoshop tips.

I would also keep the same color theme on all pages – grey with white type. It is distracting to go from grey pages to a white page – it doesn’t fit. Along with that, the same type face should be used throughout.

Also, on some pages, it says “Return to Front Page”, while others say “Return to Home”. They should all be the same. You should also have this option on the Gallery page. Again, you also have a link that say, “Return to Catalog Index”, but you don’t have a Catalog Index – you have a Gallery. The link should say “Gallery”, instead of “Return to Catalog Index”. You don’t have to use the words Return To, since they may not have come from that page. Same with Home. You don’t need the Return To.

Information Page:
Here is where I got confused. Why two different web sites: Art website and Stock website?
I would combine the two and have links to each other. And why the keywords? Who cares what keywords you?

Good luck.

Hey, I wanted a critique! That is a lot of info for me to ponder and digest. Thank you. Some of the variances in wording I am aware of and have started to change. In trying to be clear, I became to wordy  It is very much a learning experience. I am learning some about CSS and that helps.
Again... Thanks

Now if Earthlink can just clear up whatever the problem is... I will continue my learning experience and make the needed changes. The site will barely load past the front page.
