I have been in Southern California now for several months and I finally have time to shoot. I was wondering when the wildflowers and in particular when the poppies start blooming.

Thanks,

Scott

Welcome to Calif. Scott! I hope your move went well. Have you unpacked yet? I don't want to move again anytime soon myself!! If I recall, the poppies start showing up in the months between March and May. Their numbers and when, and for how long is really dependant on how much rain is received and the temps. Here's a link to the poppy preserve in the Landcaster area. I'm sure others here can provide more info.

Don't expect any flowers down here this year.. We did not get much if any rains like we need to get a decent flower bloom...

I have unpacked all but about a dozen boxes. I definitely need some time out to photograph.

I'll check out the link.

I kind of figured it may not be a good wildflower year, but even a bad year will likely be better that I have seen in California.

Thanks for the info,

Scott
