Yesterday my Valentine cherub of 35 years brought home a new monitor to replace the big old aging 20" 45-lb CRT monstor that has been aging on my computer desk for the last 4.5 years. It was time, but I'm really lost with this sleek new model (Samsung 226BW).
Seems that the greens and reds look overly saturated and there is loss of detail in the shadows. I used my Monaco Optix xr to create a new profile, but still the look and feel are very different. Would appreciate any advice you all might have to offer on how-to's of adjdusting to and using an LCD with good results.
Thanks in advance.. Janet

Janet,
It looks to me that you have a nice monitor. I have a Samsung 22" wide screen and I love it. When they come out of the box they are real bright so you definatly have to get a good calibration on it. Make sure you do the advanced calibration. On my calibration, I had to turn my brightness down to around 40 and the contrast to around 70 with my on screen controls. I hope this helps a little,
Erik

Erik is correct about the Samsung monitors. I have a 214T that I LOVE but I had to crank down the brightness and contrast to 65 & 60 respectively. I also make sure to do all my calibrating with the room dark and NO overhead lights on.

Finally got a chance to sit down and work with this monitor for several hours. Right on on the advice to tone down brightness and contrast. Image quality is quite good - I'm liking this thing. Thanks.
