Has anyone out there used the beta version of Abode Lightroom? , and is it as good as some of the reviews say it is? Comments please.

Do you mean Lightroom? I've used the beta version a bit, and it is very nice. I don't shoot in RAW though, so I'm not sure about any of those features. And it can run pretty slow on my 2 year old computer.
Basically, the photo viewing and basic editing features are very nice but if you have CS2/CS3 you might not be so impressed (I only have PS Elements). I still found a need to go out the PS Elements for some features, however, it can be launched within Lightroom.
Without going into too much detail, I'd say that since it's a free Beta, I don't see a reason not to get it and try it out?

FYI - The Beta will not be available for much longer. All beta versions will expire Feb 28.
I didn't care for the early beta versions. But I am planning on giving the full release a try.
I preordered a copy from Adobe using the "Macworld07" promotion code (Thanks Nat).
That brings the $199 intorductory price down to $169.
Hi Tom, I, too, didn't enjoy the earlier beta versions of Lightroom, but the latest version has worked pretty well for me.
I use Lightroom for everything except for the image editing as I'm a well-seasoned Photoshop user, so tend to think I WANT to use Photoshop instead of Lightroom's editing capabilities.
For that introductory price, I think it's worth it to get Lightroom.
What I like best are the category features and the ability to add captions, then create pdfs so I can send those out to my prospects for their selection. It's also got a rudimentary website page development feature which isn't so great, but I'm hoping they'll work on that in the future sometime. It can be slow at times, though, but I've heard the final version is faster.

Thanks for the input. I'm a seasoned CS2 user, and the new program looked very interesting, so I've went ahead and order it. Supposedly, it wont start to be distributed until next week. Is there anywhere you can get a "simple users guide" .....to work your way thru the beta version? Again...........any input is greatly appreciated.
Tom, I had to grin at your request for a user manual...that would have been great - not having help availability or a manual about drove me nuts with the beta version! Maybe someone put one up on their own, but the only thing I can still find until I get the "real" version of Lightroom are video tutorials at this link:

Tom, the discussion in the RMNP forum will help answer some of your questions:
