Hi all, Thought I would pick your collective brains for a bit? I am looking at heading to Lassen park in Northern California.. has anyone ever been up there and if so what is the place like?

Eric...

Be aware that Hwy 89, the main road through the park is closed for the winter. Not sure that you can get to much of the park at the moment.

Good luck...

i think it is allowed to Xcountry-sky/snowshoe & camp into the park. Must be real nice to do that.

Hi Eric, it is a beautiful place to visit, but unless you are geared for snow you need to usually wait until very late spring or summer time. I was there in July one year and the snow along the roadside was over the roof line of the vehicle. Good luck!

Then it's going to be very strenuous on skis :*)

Then for the feel: It's not as amazing as Yellowstone, but it's got its share of colorful smelly volcanic stuff. Hear you can go into lava tubes but I haven't done it so dunno for sure. I remember on the trip that the sky was *very* clear to see the stars and milky way.

Let me know when you go, I may join you. Are you camping? I stayed at Manzanita Lake one time.
