I'm going to 'lock' the first Trees thread, and start a "Page 2" here. I received a few comments about how long the original thread is taking to load.

Let's keep those beautiful images coming!

This isn't really that good a picture, but this was the only time I ran across a Sun Dog where I had a camera at hand. This was taken in 2000 at Rocky on a Kodak DC260. So, please forgive the quality. Not only did I have a camera, but I found a nice tree to hide the sun behind so that I could get a star effect. I tried to bring out some detail in the foreground, but all I got was noise.

Nice capture of this phenomenon Fred  Looking forward to Spring so I thought I'd dig up a shot from California I took last year. These trees formed a luminous tunnel of lush green growth.

Taken today at Crown Hill Lake, no post-processing other than a sharpen and resize.

(Figuring out forum code, bear with me.)

One of my favorite tree images:

Image made on a local ranch I frequent. I am doing a seasonal series on this tree, and this is my best Winter shot to date.

Very nice, Steve. I find the FG a bit distracting but other than that I like it. Have you tried a square crop?

More beautiful work. Excellent!

Here's a slightly different version of my current ESS image.

One from about 11 months ago in the Wet Mountains...

This could be the best CNP thread ever.

Went tree-shooting last thu morn, after a fresh snow. Here's one from my secret tree location on the Arkansas.

On the way back from the above site, i stopped to photograph some frost-covered trees breaking out of the fog. while shooting, somehow my car key dropped into the snow. I frantically searched for an hour, to no avail. I went to a nearby cafe for help, and a woman there said she was "good at finding things" and would help me look. I figured it was hopeless, but within a minute she found my key! Good karma, and free photos must go to the woman! This is a B/W shot, with a high pass adjustment.

Hello to you all. I am Don Eason of Fort Collins, Colorado and I am very excited to say that I have just joined your group. After seeing your absolutely wonderful posts of trees (a favorite subject of mine), I just couldn't resist! I look forward to receiving a lot of learning and inspiration from my involvement here. I will try to work up a short bio for posting later, but here (fingers crossed) is a tree photo by way of introduction, taken in Moki Canyon in southern Utah and titled "Survivors". Cordially, Don

Sometimes, when I'm out in the woods by myself for too long, I start seeing things in trees that I shouldn't...

Here's a shot of a Gambel oak grove from the base of the Henry Mountains of Utah.

Grant, after your post and comment, I'm seeing that eye avatar of yours in a new light!

The shots just keep coming! Rick D., that cottonwood painting, er,uh, photo is outstanding.

Here's one from about six years ago, original is on Velvia. Location: poorly kept secret. Hint: west of I-25, east of Pike National Forest, north of US 24, south of Air Force Academy.
