Watching Countryfile today there was a bief piece about Bass Rock. It reminded me of my trip with Guy Edwardes and one or two others from this forum. I had the chance to try out a 500mm f4L and 1.4x TC. The difference between that lens and my Sigma 50-500mm zoom was quite remarkable (even on my good old 300d).

Canon 300d
EF500mm f4L IS + 1.4x
f11.0
1/800th
ISO200

This almost jumps out of the screen and looks 3D, the background is such a consistant blue, has it been replaced/cutout?

Great image non the less

Hi Rob

Yes I watched the Bass Rock article on CountryFile today as well, what an amazing place.

A nice shot, often the late evening sun doesn't work too well with birds, but I think you have captured it well here with excellent colour.

Nice one, reminds me of Summer :toast:

cheers

This is one of the nicest gannet images I have seen.

The sharpness makes it 'pop' and the light is beautiful.
Great composition too.
