20D, 400/2.8, ISO400, Manual exp 1/640 @ f6.3, Fill 550EX +BB on manual approx -2, A-327 + BH1, C1Pro + CS2.

Hi,

First attempt in earnest at this, learnt a lot particularly when looking at the results afterwards and exercising the delete key. In particular I was trying to be clever and framing too tight, this resulted in many lost shots because of clipped wings, tails, heads etc... also severely limited my available DoF, plus I need a higher shutter speed for a little less movement in the wings....

So next time I will be resiting the setup in a brighter part of my little clearing although this will give less control on the bg, I will also back off a bit to give better framing options and hopefully more DoF due to lower subject magnification.

Honest critique warmly recieved.

All the best

Phil

Great action shot Phil, looks very dramatic but to the blue tit I guess its just like walking.
Looking forward to seeing more.

Hello Phil
I must admit that I find it dead right too. I think the wing blur completes the image perfectly. Your perseverance has paid off once again.
Best wishes

This is a cracking image. Top drawer stuff.

The sharp head stands out so well and draws the viewers eye. The colours, pose and composition are spot on.

But for me the icing on the cake is the look of concentration on the blue tits 'face'

An amazing capture!! :toast:

Hi Phil

A stunning image :toast: :toast:

A great variation on the bird in flight, I think the shooting angle and pose is fantastic. I have seen a few side on flight shots but never one from this angle.

Top notch and inspirational really. Once again a demonstration that even common subjects can produce great images with the right person behind the camera.

cheers
