I have been hibernating for the winter, but I have been watching all of your wonderful posts. Actually, my wife and I have been really busy interviewing for her residency program this winter, and I have not had much time to shoot.
I have to thank my friend Larry Jernigan for staying on my case about coming to Heber Springs to shoot the Trumpeter Swans. I finally got up there yesterday (after three years of putting it off), and these swans turned their noses up to me. We had good light and lots of action. Just a couple weeks left, for those of you who'd like to go. The swans seem to be showing the signs of restlessness. I still have a lot of images to process, but here's one of my early favorites.

Well I can see why it's one of your early favorites, very nice Dominic. Their neck/head positions are very fun and I especially like the water droplets falling from the beak of the trailing swan. Very nice shot!

Lovely shot, Dominic! Great job keeping the highlights from blowing out while preserving details in the midtones and shadows!
I can't believe you haven't been prior to this! The only thing I would warn you about is that it's such a target rich environment that you end up with WAY more pictures than you ever thought you would take. I can't tell you how many shots I've taken there and now that you've told me they're still around I'm trying to figure out how I can get back up just one more time!
Have a great day!

PS > I'm LOVING that 17-55! It may make a landscape shooter out of me yet!

You did good Dominic. Looks like these guys gave you a great pose, and the drops of water Wayne mentioned are a nice touch. Thanks for the post!
