I count myself lucky to have Goldcrests visit the conifer at the back of my house several time a day ATM. Not that that makes it any easier to photograph them And I certainly don't think there's any chance of a "bird on a stick" type shot. One day my luck will be in and I'll get a cracker but in the meantime here's one of the best the bunch so far.
E-500 with 50-200 + 1.4TC, ISO 400, 1/80th @ f5, fill flash, full frame.
C & C welcome.

Hi Paul
Certainly a very nice bird to have visiting your garden. I like your shot here, the background colours compliment the gold crest well, the conifer needles frame the bird well and make up for it not being a 'full frame' bird shot. Nice pose and eye contact too. Flash is not obvious.
Overall I think you have done very well here, no real nits, just keep trying and hopefully you will get some more shots of this bird.
cheers

Hello Paul
I must admit that from the title I expected something with the obvious flaws of a "through the window exposure" - what a pleasant surprise! it's a little cracker.
Best wishes

Nice emphasis on the gold crest. Just shows what you can do in your bedroom
Excellent shot with a touch of environment for added interest.

yep, nice environmental shot of a difficult bird to photograph - they just don't keep still do they!

It is a nice image, even with the bird in the centre. The needles make a good frame.

The yellow crest and feet are shown off well too.
Very nice!!
The folliage frames the bird nicely.
