Hi all,
I am looking at heading to Lassen and Redwoods Parks this year. I know I will miss the Azaleas and Rhodies in Redwoods since I will not get there till July.
Any suggestions or tips of Redwoods Park? I have been doing some info gathering the last few weeks, but not sure where to start...
Thanks

Highly recommend Stout Grove. Can't remember the name of the section of the park in which you will find it, but it is quite a nice place.
Be sure to hed up to Orick on 101 and then down to Gold Bluff Beach and the nearby Fern Canyon. Haven't been there is years, but still one of my favorite places.
I was in the area several years ago when I was just starting to get interested in nature photography. The redwoods groves are spectacular. There was one stretch called Avenue of the Giants (I think) that had lots of places to walk among the trees. Unfortunately there was toilet paper behind almost every giant log, but I digress. The big trees are very humbling and I really could have spent several days there.
If it's clear and sunny while you're in the redwoods, set your alarm clock and pack a supper. You can get some decent small shots under direct light, but broad scenics will be way too contrasty. Dawn and dusk will provide better shooting conditions in general, simply because the sun is gone.
