Vision in White
I had a really drab and disappointing day working a local heronry today (project for local publication) with poor light and herons not performing as I'd hoped and planned, when all of a sudden a 10 second shaft of sunlight emerged and this Mute Swan glided towards me.
Sometimes the commonest creatures can give the greatest pleasures - or sense of relief that at least something worthwhile came out of the day!!

This is very nice indeed.
Low angle, clean surroundings, nice light and pose, what more could you want.

"Sometimes the commonest creatures can give the greatest pleasures" - I think that is very true and is one of the reasons the natural world can be so enjoyable. You don't have to travel to exotic places to find them.

Nice shot.

Maybe in need of some rotation if this is a 'keeper'.

Mark,

I love this shot, you have really caught the atmosphere of the moment.

I agree with the rotation. Still a very atmospheric shot. :toast: :toast:

Thanks for the comments - I find the rotation issue and intersting one - whether you prefer the head to be straight and level (as I think it is) or whether the waterline of the birds body should be.

That said feedback is always appreciated and half the point of posting on here!

Can't decide on the rotation. There are methods to determine this (Bob Steele did an article I recall). Very nice shot Mark. I find Swans rally hard to compose whilst showing detail. Something you've done very well here :toast:

Agree with your statement re. the common species, also with the slight rotation...

Nice image though.
