Another image of my recent Finland trip. Near the Kuveskoski river i found this Whooper swan. Very rare for the time of the year as they normally winter in Holland and England. Getting an image wasnt easy either! It was very cold, my glasses constantly froze up and i had to crawl through the snow!
I like the atmosphere created by the very low sun and the mist,

WOW Rene That is one hell of a great setting. Even though you kept freezing up, the shots you have returned with are quite outstanding. Was this Whooper actually frozen into the lake or was he trying to disguise himself as an iceburg
Great photography & a pleasure to view

Hi Rene
Looks like you had a great if not difficult trip,Fantastic image,My eye is drawn to the snow blob to the left of the bird and think it looks better when holding my thumb over it so may clone that out

Wonderful Rene! The ice blob does draw my eye a bit, but would leave it in. Love the comp good skills

Hi Rene,
A beautiful image, the colours of the habitat and the bird really compliment each other, the blob on the left doesn't bother me as it shows the habitat.

Hi Rene,
A very nice image.
I like the simplicity of it and the atmosphere created by the mist.
I agree with the comments on the piece of ice on the left edge.
You certainly suffer the elements for your images!
Just beautiful! Lots of hard work on your part with fantastic results. Brrrr!

Ah Canon gear Rene! Don't ya just love it. Pity you didn't wait a wee bit longer to change (again), it would maybe have saved you forking out again for the mk111
Love this shot.
I would go against the rest and say that cloning out the cut ice on the left would make for a better image, maybe not an accurate one, but certainly a more aesthetically pleasing one.

Love it... a very atmospheric image that shouts cold.... also an image that has lots of crop options that all would look great, a picture editors dream

Hi Rene
Excellent shot. Lovely colours and atmosphere. Lots of potential for cropping too. I would like a more panoramic format myself.

Hi Rene,
Are you up to room temperature yet ?
It's a good photo and as you wrote: mist makes it even better (Guy got his mist making machine to Finland too ), and that bill is jumping out of the screen.
