Turnstone
My first opportunity to get Turnstones. Taken at Salthouse in Norfolk last weekend. Really good to watch these turning stones over...some of them were boulders...quite impressive!

Comments appreciated

Another very nice image.

I too like the low angle and the detail it shows off in the turnstone's feathers.

Very nice!

Good sharp image, I'd prefer slightly less oof fg as it tends to dominate the image for me.

I was photographing some today :) I was very impressed by the strength these little birds have. They were almost throwing house bricks over their shoulder lol

These birds look like they'd be hard to find, judging by the habitat and colors on the bird. From all your very enjoyable comments I have cartoon images in my head about them tossing house bricks. Great image but agree about foreground oof. A little more dof targeted to that area would make it a 'home run' shot, I think. :wavey:

Thanks for the comments.

Re: the OOF foreground - should I crop it? Or put it down to think of this more next time I get the opportunity?

Was reluctant to slow the shutter speed any more - could have upped the ISO and narrowed aperture i s'pose  Next time I will perhaps think a bit more. Was quite excited about getting this shot and all concentration sometimes goes out the window

Very nice Graeme, I think this would fit a panoramic format very well, just keep a sliver of the OOF forground as I think that highlights the in focus strip... it's just a little dominant at the moment... (mind you I tend to do the same)

Knowing exactly where these birds gather at Salthouse it's not easy to get much less foreground in the pictures without lying in the water!!

Nice image Graeme - and no piles of bird seed either

Very nice indeed.Tack sharp and what an attractive setting with all the multi-coloured pebbles. The minimal depth of field works superbly here,IMHO.
